NEW WORK & SITE IS UP

I haven’t updated our work in quite some time. Here is my old portfolio vs my new new.

I’m surprised the url brothers.design hasn’t been taken. It only makes sense for my brother and I to own that site considering our branding is brothers working together.

Some things we’ve added on the site thats nuanced but clever to us:

  1. The landing has a rack focusing effect that speaks to our fascination with film and video.

  2. The process section is an infinite loop that applies to every project. Good process slide.

  3. Last section nods to our current employer Playground.

Pandion Branding

I recently did some branding work for Scott Ruffin an Executive who’s behind 1-Day and 2-Day Prime shipping at Amazon. He’s a 20+ year veteran who left Amazon and now starting his own logistic company called Pandion. He’s bringing the same quality / speed of shipping that he developed at Amazon to everyday people like you and I. The company is called Pandion please check it out. Also, here’s a Bloomberg article on Scott.

Here is the branding work :

Here are press stuff :

More on Jeff Bezos leaving Amazon and Scott Ruffin addressing Pandion. Skip to 22:45.

Designed a Cover for Barstool Sports

I designed a couple covers for a new podcast about basketball drama launching on Barstool called This League. Since the project was so quick - 15 mins quick, we swiftly made the decision to draw inspiration from the famous 90’s game NBAJAM. Check out some of the iterations below.

PS. I figured out a quick way to build 3D type and adding a colorcast to em. Ask me how.

This League is podcast for those of you who love the drama of basketball. Check it out on Apple Podcast.

Introducing Timid

tim·id - /ˈtimid/ adjective

  1. showing a lack of courage or confidence; easily frightened.

"I was too timid to ask for what I wanted"

Timid is more than a magazine, It’s a platform founded by my good friend Henry Wu. Henry aspires to raise awareness around Asian’s who are doing extraordinary things - the ones breaking the stereotypes of what it means to be asian and embracing their timidness as strength and not weakness. Support him as he dives deeper into this journey.

For this project I helped with naming, language, copy and art direction. Below are moments taken from our shoot. The final edit is above.

Learning Cinema 4D during Quarantine

Here is a fun little animation of my truck, surfboard and Bentley. I’m following simple tutorials on youtube to learn the fundamentals of Cinema 4d. Here is the fruition inspired by a couple tutorials. It helps if you have some insight of CAD software and animation platforms, things like: key-framing, timelines etc.

Taste of Hype - Supreme Oreo DIY

**NOTE - I am not selling the cookies or the molds seen in this video. The contents of the video is purely concept and a way to showcase our design capabilities.

Did you see Supremes 2020 lookbook? Yes, we did. Did you see the Oreos in there? Yup, we thought, how fun would it be to learn how to bake Oreos. So we got to work. Who would have known within a week of it’s announcement those cookies would hit 91k on Ebay. The internet never ceases to amaze us.

I'm starting a new design show called "DUI"

I started DUI because I can’t bear hearing another designer talk through their process without being inebriated. I’m only kidding, I started DUI because I thought to my self, wouldn’t it be cool to drink and talk design with one of my favorite designers Naoto Fukasawa. I would totally film that session and share it with the world. Could you imagine your favorite designer intoxicated talking design? This would be so entertaining and inspiring all at once. What started as a stupid idea has spun into fruition. I’m actually going to pursue this, Its unlikely I’ll reach Fukasawa at first, but maybe in a couple of years if I play my cards right.

DUI, Design Under the Influence, will be an interview-style show about the design process. I want to invite designers (engineers, creators) to talk about their influences...while designing under the influence. The show is for aspiring creatives looking to learn the craft and wisdom from professionals. I think it’ll be a fun source of inspiration, because I believe learning from others helps your creative development and productivity.

I’m going to try to post new episodes monthly on YOUTUBE . Depending how my liver handles the first couple episodes.

Below are some process photos of work-in-progress for the show.

Tiger Balms are NostalgiC

Tiger Balm was the cure for everything as a kid. You're sick ? Apply Tiger Balm. You're sore? Apply Tiger Balm. You have a migraine? Apply Tiger Balm. So I wanted to refresh a product I've used all my life.  Here's my first take at a new look and feel of Tiger Balm. Enjoy the process. More to come.

#BREATHEBETTERWITHCS

It's been awhile since we've done a community design projects. One year now to be exact. Last one was the watchdogs, and it's turn out was dope. Karim Rashid himself loved it. See the project here if you missed it.

This time let's design inhalers. Here's some info on "Metered Dosed Inhalers" if you want to geek out, but don't be constrained by all that data. Go wide in your explorations, have fun and explore unique materials, crazy mechanisms and bizarre shapes. We want to keep this loose so design criteria's are simple. Use the CAD provided. Must have a counter, 200 count to be exact. Use what ever tool you want, just as long as the idea comes across. Have Fun.

PS. Included are quick sketches that are inspired around the insecurities of using inhalers. Hiding the pMDI cartridge under a softer durometer material, this still allows for cartridge compression, and opens up some fun opportunities in design.
